Ousmane Dembele’s brilliant hat-trick has blown the race for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot wide open!

He may have bagged a 32-minute first-half hat-trick but Ousmane Dembele isn’t getting carried away by his and his side’s performance.

“We stay focused,” said the PSG star when speaking via FIFA after the game.

“It was an important game because we wanted to finish top of the group. We want to win every match, and we’ll keep our focus because what’s coming next is even more important.”

“First of all, our thoughts are with Didier [Deschamps]. We can’t wait to have him back and he’ll be with us at training tomorrow. As for the game, we did what we needed to do. There was a lot of enjoyment in the way we played, plenty of intensity and plenty of chances.

“We’re happy, we’ll enjoy this win, but tomorrow it’s back to work with Didier.”

Norway’s tie is set – they’ll face Ivory Coast in the round of 32.

“Cote d’Ivoire is a very good side,” said France and Arsenal great Patrick Vieira when speaking to ITV.

“Nicolas Pepe scored two goals last time out, and he looks like he’s come alive.”

While it’s not settled just yet, France’s win means they’re looking likely to face Sweden in the Round of 32 before then potentially facing Germany in a mouthwatering clash in the Round of 16!

Interestingly enough, Ousmane Dembele’s hat-trick goal in the 32nd minute saw every single player in the French side touch the ball in the build-up to the goal.

Scintillating stuff.

So France have won Group I and that means they’ll now likely face Sweden in the round of 32, while Norway, having finished second in the group, will definitely face Ivory Coast.

Senegal also thrashed Iraq 5-0 in Toronto, which is significant for them because it means they finished third in the group and seriously bolstered their goal difference, which is likely to see them finish as one of the eight best third-placed teams.

And that’s full time in Boston as France romp to the top of Group I with a commanding 4-1 win over Norway.

A scintillating first half display from Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele, who’s 32-minute hat-trick ensured his side could take their foot off the gas in the second half.

Aasgaard pulled one back for Norway, and Strand Larsen also had a penalty saved, but Doue’s late header was the icing on the cake in a dominant French win.

They haven’t had to get out of second gear in this second half, but France have finally added a fourth, and it was created by PSG.

Played in down the left, Barcola chops back onto his right foot and picks out Doue in the box, who heads the ball into the bottom corner to make it 4-1.
