Morocco manager Mohamed Ouahbi has given his thoughts on the match. Here is what he had to say:

“We are very happy. It’s a World Cup match, and these are difficult games with teams playing for their lives.

“We reacted very well in the second half in the second balls and the duels. I have to recognise that Canada were impressive – they played a top match. It was no surprise for us, but in the second half, we were able to profit from the space they left us – that was the key.”

One of the most anticipated matches at this tournament will finally kickoff tomorrow as Mexico face England in Mexico City.

The iconic Azteca Stadium will host the tie, with the build-up dominated by discussion around how England will deal with the Mexican capital’s high altitude.

My colleague Manasi Pathak has been looking into the difficulties of playing Mexico at home and wrote this piece.

African nations have only ever won eight knockout matches at World Cup’s.

Morocco now account for 50 percent of those wins.

Cameroon, Senegal, Ghana and Egypt all have one win apiece.

The Atlas Lions are in the quarterfinals for the second World Cup in a row and they will now travel to Boston for their last eight tie.

That match will kickoff at 4pm next Thursday (20:00 GMT) with Morocco facing the winners of the France vs Paraguay match.

Les Rouges have become the first of the three hosts to exit this competition.

They started this match in spectacular fashion, working tirelessly to unsettle Morocco and force them into mistakes.

But they just lacked the quality required to capitalise on their advantage.

Canada weren’t able to maintain their high levels in the second half, as the quality of Morocco started to show.

Jesse Marsch’s side have plenty of positives to take from this tournament but they will be gutted not to go even further.

That was quite the turnaround from Morocco. After a dire first half, they came back out and scored three unanswered goals to book their place in the last eight.

It was by no means a vintage performance from The Atlas Lions, but they survived a difficult first-half and then turned the screw on Canada with some brilliant goals.

Their counterattacking play was exceptional in the second half, with two goals coming from lightning breaks.

The loss of Saibari was a real blow for Morocco, but Rahimi did a great job after replacing him.

The North African side now march on to the quarterfinals.

The icing on the cake for Morocco!

Rahimi, who replaced Sabari in the first half, has a goal to cap off a very good performance.

Morocco win the ball in the centre circle and break through Diaz. He plays Rahimi in down the left and the forward fires the ball past Crepeau and into the bottom right corner.

That’s the final action of the match.

He attacks a cross at the back post but his Moroccan counterpart punches the ball away.
